Judiciary System and Females

Still to this day we live in a male dominated society whether we like it or not. Women have made huge improvements over the past fifty years, but they are still behind men. We look at politics in this country and it has never seen a female president, but women are advancing. We look at the past election and see two female candidates that were considered for the job. As far as women and the law and legal system, we look at the Supreme Court and see that it has lacked female perspective up until Sandra Day O’Connor was appointed in the 1980s. Still the Supreme Court is male dominated, but improvements are being made. The judicial system is clearly male dominated and always has been. It is showing signs of trying to include women, but it is a slow process. We are clearly living in a society that sees the judicial rulings dominated by men and I think this is something that would be very hard to change. There really is not a way to have an equal amount of men to women in anything, and this would be even harder to accomplish in the judiciary system. I think it is something that is going to be dominated by men for close to the remainder of our lifetime.

  1. Good post Mike. You are correct in saying that males mostly dominate society today. Also, it is true that we are becoming more acclimated to seeing women in our politics. Sarah Palin and Hillary Clinton were very big political figures in the last election. "Society that sees the judicial rulings dominated by men." Though this may be true, judges are supposed to use past precedent to change the law today. So by having a female judge she should do the same thing. You do not need a woman to change the law if the United States Supreme Court is doing this the correct way.
