Realist Response to the Twitter Anarchist

After reading the article about the “twitter anarchist,” I had a few reactions. First, it confirmed my belief that Twitter is the most annoying website in this decade and should be shut down regardless of this case. Second, this article was incredibly biased in favor of the so called anarchist. Terrorists can like Buffy the Vampire Slayer too. More importantly, though, I think that the realist would look at this case and say that charges should be brought because of the magnitude of the event in question. In attendance were the leaders of many of the most powerful countries in the world, and thus security was paramount. By notifying not only protesters, but whoever else read his tweet (or whatever the stupid name for it is) this man threatened not only national security, but the lives of many presidents and prime ministers. This means that true threats to national security could have known the best way to avoid the police and commit violent acts at the G-20 Summit. Whether or not this was the intention is irrelevant in my mind, and I believe that the realist would claim that the social benefit of maintaining tight security while the leaders of the most developed countries of the world are in town would certainly outweigh this man’s so-called Constitutional rights.
